M.SC. JONAS THYRANN · RESEARCH ASSOCIATE · CHAIR OF OCEAN ENGINEERING

“Studying Maritime Engineering provided me with important skills for my career.”

Whether it was ship technology, offshore structures, or underwater systems, my studies gave me a broad overview of all the technical key areas of the Blue Economy. And the best part? Studying right by the sea, surrounded by industry experts and major players in the field.

Thanks to hands-on opportunities, I could apply my knowledge directly and experiment with new ideas. This expertise helped me transition smoothly into my career, where I now work on autonomous underwater gliders.

Jil Reiher · Student

"I switched from Dortmund to Rostock for Naval Architecture and never looked back."

I switched from the TU Dortmund University to the University of Rostock in April 2022. I came here because of Naval Architecture and the related Master’s programme. The programme impresses not only with its comprehensive introduction to the subject, but also with its clear and vivid lectures. After five semesters, I can highly recommend the programme, even to people who, like me, do not come from a maritime background and want to be inspired.
